artist presentation

I am Lena Birgitsdotter. I am a mother, a partner, a friend and a sister. I am also a jewelry artist and a former biologist. I live and work in Stenungsund on the west coast of Sweden close to the sea I love so much.

I have an interest in the play between 2D and 3D in the objects I make, and in the shadows they throw, how thin the material can become and how their volume plays with their weight. The straight metal wire makes a metaphor for a pencil line, forming the air into shapes.

My artistic work is for now an ongoing investigation of the cube, big and small, still or flexible, filled or empty, in iron, silver, brass and gold for the scene, the room and the body or just the body. With my cubes I would like to give the lines a 3D world but also the permission to rest as a picture or a drawing in a 2D state.

Welcome to have a look at my work! Any questions, contact me.

High up in the north, in a land called Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is a hundred miles high and a hundred miles wide. Once every thousand years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak.

When the rock thus has been worn away, then a single day of eternity will have gone by.
